Endodontics
Root canal treatment and dental pain diagnosis.
Endodontics preserves a tooth whose pulp is infected or irreversibly inflamed. Rather than extracting it, we clean, disinfect, and seal the interior of the tooth. The studio uses modern protocols — rotary instrumentation, irrigation, strict isolation — to maximize comfort and prognosis. The final restoration (often a crown) is planned from the outset.
Indications
- →Spontaneous or nighttime dental pain
- →Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold
- →Abscess or swelling
- →Fractured tooth with pulp exposure
Treatment steps
- 01Clinical and radiographic diagnosis
- 02Pulp vitality testing
- 03Local anesthesia and isolation
- 04Cleaning and shaping of the canals
- 05Filling and temporary restoration
- 06Final restoration (a crown is often recommended)
Possible variants
- Initial root canal treatment
- Endodontic retreatment
- Referral to an endodontist for complex cases
Endodontic success depends on anatomy, patient cooperation, and the final restoration. Some cases (vertical fractures, complex anatomy) may require extraction.
When a situation goes beyond what can be treated at the studio, we coordinate referral to an appropriate specialist. Certain treatments may require specialized expertise or interdisciplinary care — in those cases, we favour a clear, documented and coordinated referral.
Follow-up and care
Sensitivity may persist for a few days. Avoid biting hard on the treated tooth until the final restoration is placed.
Frequently asked questions
Is a root canal painful?
With effective anesthesia, the treatment is comfortable. The initial pain comes from the infection, which is resolved by the procedure.
Why is a crown recommended afterward?
A tooth that has undergone endodontic treatment is more fragile. A crown protects it against fractures.
How many visits are required?
One to two visits on average for the initial treatment.
