[ Stage 2 · Crowns and bridges ]
Dental crowns and bridges in Ahuntsic, with a workshop on site
A crown covers a fragile tooth to protect it. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by resting on the neighbouring ones. At Studio De Facto, these pieces are designed digitally and made in our workshop, in zirconia, ceramic or resin depending on the case.
When to consult
- A tooth is cracked or has lost a large part of its structure.
- A tooth has had a root canal (especially at the back of the mouth).
- An old crown has come loose, broken or no longer fits.
- A tooth is missing and you want a fixed solution.
Good to know
A crown needs the same care as a natural tooth. The gum and the root underneath can still decay.
How it works
- A complete examination beforehand, and stage 1 (biological stabilisation) completed.
- Assessment of the abutment and of the periodontium: residual decay, cracks, vitality of the tooth, health of the gum and bone. A root canal or a build-up of the abutment may be needed.
- Preparation of the tooth under local anaesthetic, then a digital impression with the intra-oral scanner, or a conventional impression depending on complexity. Shade taking and photographs.
- A printed temporary restoration, to protect the tooth and validate the shape and the bite.
- Computer design and fabrication in the workshop: zirconia, pressed ceramic or hand-layered porcelain.
- Try-in: contacts with the neighbouring teeth, fit, bite and shade. Bonding or cementing of the piece.
- Check of the bite, a control radiograph if needed, then upkeep at the regular follow-up.
Frequently asked questions
How many appointments?
Once the mouth is stabilised, usually two or three: the preparation and impression, a try-in if needed, then the fitting.
Zirconia, ceramic or resin?
It depends on the tooth, the force of your bite and the look you want. Zirconia is very strong. Pressed ceramic and layered porcelain give the most lifelike translucency. Printed resin is mostly used for temporary restorations. We propose what suits your case.
