Cleaning and recall examination

Scaling, polishing and examination, at an interval suited to your risk.

When to consult

  • For your regular recall visits
  • If your gums bleed or are sensitive
  • If you have visible deposits or bad breath
  • To adjust your at-home hygiene habits

How it works

  1. Complete periodontal assessment
  2. Supragingival and subgingival scaling as indicated
  3. Polishing and fluoride application as needed
  4. Personalized advice (brushing, floss, interdental brushes)
  5. Determination of recall frequency based on caries and periodontal risk

Options

  • Recall cleaning
  • Deep scaling
  • Sealants
  • Fluoride application
  • Dietary advice

Limits

A cleaning does not replace rigorous daily hygiene. Certain conditions require more advanced periodontal treatment.

After treatment

Mild sensitivity is possible for 24 to 48 hours. Normal brushing and flossing can resume the same day.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I come in for a cleaning?

Every 4 to 12 months depending on your individual risk — we determine the frequency together.

Does scaling damage the enamel?

No. The instruments are designed to remove tartar without damaging healthy structures.

My gums bleed — is that normal?

No, it is usually a sign of inflammation. A periodontal assessment is recommended.
