Occlusal splint

A splint custom-made in the workshop, to protect the teeth when you clench or grind, by day or by night.

When to consult

  • You wake with a tense or sore jaw.
  • People around you hear you grinding at night.
  • Wear is visible on the edges of your teeth.
  • Your restorations fracture or come loose repeatedly.

Good to know

The splint protects the teeth from wear; it does not stop the clenching, which has other causes. We discuss those at the examination.

How it works

  1. Examination of the wear, the bite and the jaw joints.
  2. Digital impression and recording of the bite.
  3. Fabrication of the splint in the workshop.
  4. Try-in and adjustment of the contacts, so the bite is balanced.
  5. A check after a few weeks, then at the regular follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to wear it every night?

That is what is generally recommended for it to protect. We adjust according to what we see in the wear and in your comfort.

Will it fix my headaches?

We cannot promise that: headaches have several possible causes. The splint is aimed first at protecting the teeth.

The information on this page is general. Only an examination can tell what suits your situation.
